Mauro DiNuzzo obtained a Ph.D. in Biophysics from the Sapienza University of Rome.

He worked for 2 years at the University of Copenhagen as a Marie Skłodowska Curie fellow, 1 year at the Santa Lucia Foundation IRCCS as a contract researcher, and 6 years at the Enrico Fermi Research Center as a postdoctoral fellow, his current position.

He is also a scientific consultant for the University of Minnesota as well as co-founder and CEO of Netabolics SRL.

He is co-author of over 70 publications including peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, book chapters, and industrial patents (h-Index 22, currents as of 06/2022). He reviewed more than 130 papers for more than 30 scientific magazines. He is a member of the editorial board of several international journals, a member of several international societies and organizations as well as scientific committees.

His primary research interests cover the complexity of living systems, theoretical biology, artificial intelligence in drug discovery, experimental and computational neuroscience, cellular neurobiology, brain energy metabolism, as well as the study of sleep and consciousness.
