CREF opens the doors of its historic headquarters in Via Panisperna for the Genius Loci 2021 festival

As part of the Festival Genius Loci, organized from May 11 to 30 by Open City Roma, the Enrico Fermi Research Center opens the doors of the historic Palazzina and its Museum, for a guided tour scheduled on May 21.

The building is the famous home of the “ragazzi di via Panisperna”, the group of young nuclear physicists, led by Enrico Fermi, who in 1934 discovered the role of slow neutrons in induced radioactivity, a discovery that earned Fermi the Nobel Prize in 1938.

Inside the Museum, thanks to an interactive and multimedia set-up, it is possible to retrace the human story and the discoveries of the great Italian scientist.

The visit also includes a stop in the courtyard of the Institute, where the celebrated fountain used by Fermi for his experiments is still on display.

In line with the themes of the festival, there will also be space for a historical-architectural story about the Palazzina, in order to combine architectural and historical-scientific aspects.
